Wayne's coffee...

This is my view today from the window seat at Wayne's coffee at Tjuvholmen, Akerbrygge in Oslo.  I love watching the boats (ships) go by.  I'm sure it has something to do with the fact that I've lived in Oklahoma for the last 16 years with no water around other than the pool in the back yard. Even with the wind blowing and the rain falling there is something really peaceful and beautiful about looking at the water.  Fall is well underway here and the trees with leaves left are a vibrant color of yellows and reds.  So beautiful!  I really expected it to be colder than it is outside and underestimated the warmth inside everywhere you go.  They sure know how to crank the heat way up in the fall/winter...  I"m learning to layer again. :)

Fake identity

Halloween is coming up and its the perfect opportunity to be someone different. At least for one night... I'm going to dress up as an over accessorized gypsy. Should go better than last year when I dressed up as a vampire and one of my fangs kept falling out... hah! It sounds funny now, but that night it was nothing but a pain in the arse.

Speaking of being someone else... I sometimes wish I was different.... funnier, smarter, prettier, skinnier... not a foreigner... But I keep coming back to the fact that God created me the way I am for a reason and all I have to do is figure out what that reason is and then "run my race". I'm 33 and I still haven't figured it out. How long will it take? I hope not too long cause I'm not getting any younger and I want to have a family one day. Husband, kids, dog. The whole nine yards.

Happy Halloween!

Joshua 1:9

"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."

Today I just want to loose myself in a good story...to escape reality for just a few minutes... wishing I was on a sea shore somewhere listening to the waves crash against the rocks. There is no greater sound... nothing as relaxing as dipping your toes in the crisp ocean, looking for crabs underneath the stones... those were the days of my childhood... I wish I could go back there sometimes. Everything seemed so simple back then. Running around barefoot all summer long. No worries at all. If only I could be a kid again...

My mind has been scattered all over the place all day long. Sometimes its a bit difficult to capture the thoughts and make them into something that makes sense outside my brain. Truth is they don't always make sense inside the brain either... figure it out if you can. Maybe it has something to do with being a Gemini... I have a "split personality"... the calm and collected me and the wild and crazy me (lol). No wonder some people tell me I'm hard to figure out... well, take on the challenge or leave me the heck alone. At least I'm not boring...

well kids, have a great Memorial Day weekend and be safe out there.

Ciao!

The way of Love....

I just started reading this book I found in my parents attic called "Secrets of an irresistible woman, smart rules for capturing his heart" by Michelle McKinney Hammond. In this book she talks about "the rules" which I'm sure some of you have read. I started reading it while I was in college, but put it down because I thought it promoted manipulation and lying. But, regardless of that there were some good advice that I'm sure we could all benefit from following. This book though, promotes God's view of how love should be which is stated in 1 cor. 13. The love chapter. It was a good reminder for me to read that again and I wanted to share it with you from the Message Bible. I think we can all benefit from a reminder of "The way of Love..."

1 Cor. 13 - Message
If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don't love, I'm nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate.
If I speak God's Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, "jump," and it jumps, but don't have love, I'm nothing.
If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don't love, I've gotten nowhere. So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without love.

Love never gives up.
Love cares for more for others than for self.
Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.
Love doesn't strut,
Doesn't have a swelled head,
Doesn't force itself on others,
Isn't always "me first,"
Doesn't fly off the handle,
Doesn't keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn't revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.

Love never dies. Inspired speech will be over some day; praying in tongues will end; understanding will reach its limit. We know only a portion of the truth, and what we say about God is always incomplete. But when the Complete arrives, our incompletes will be canceled.
When I was an infant at my mother's breast, I gurgled and cooed like any infant. When I grew up, I left those infant ways for good.
We don't yet see things clearly. We're squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won't be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We'll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us!
But for right now, until that completeness, we have three things to do to lead us toward that consummation: Trust steadily in God, hope unswervingly, love extravagantly. And the best of the three is love.

God is good!

Wow! I was just tremendously blessed by reading about what God just did for a friend of mine. I feel like jumping up and down in my office for him. It's exciting to see God in action. If you let Him into your life there's no limit to what He can do for you if you just let Him. It's really all about Matthew 6:25-33... 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Happy New Year to all!
